From the Archives: WWI and our Origins
The CU Boulder Archives began as an effort to document activities during World War I. These posters are part of the World War I Posters collection which includes military recruitment posters and posters from various government and private agencies, including the Food Administration, the Red Cross, the Fuel Administration and War Bonds. Some of our favorites, for obvious reasons, are those from the American Library Association and the Library War Service.
While our main exhibit (on view in east stairwell of Norlin Library) covers the history and future of archives more generally, we also wanted to provide you with a slice of time from when the archives were created. Several of the posters from World War I are now on view in the Reading Room of Norlin Library. Come visit anytime, Monday through Friday, from 11 am to 4 pm.
The University of Colorado Boulder Libraries will celebrate the centennial anniversary of the Archives on June 6, 2018. This is story #93 in our series: 100 Stories for 100 Years from the Archives!
