The University of Colorado Boulder joins the Open Library Environment (OLE) Partners to further strengthen library input and engagement with FOLIO and related library management efforts. CU Boulder becomes the 10th library organization to join OLE’s investment in FOLIO and open source efforts for library management tools.

Leslie Reynolds, Interim Dean at CU Boulder Libraries, helped lead this effort to join OLE and says, “We are thrilled to be joining with colleagues from OLE to aggregate our resources and staff contributions to FOLIO and related discussions. CU brings significant resources to the OLE Partnership to strengthen and deepen library collaboration and abilities to engage deeply with the creation of tools and infrastructure designed from the ground up to deal with the challenges and mandates of the digital environment. OLE’s commitment to advancing the development of open, innovative library management systems through global collaboration is a critical component of our interests in OLE.”

CU Boulder is joining OLE under a grant from EBSCO Information Services to help support the organization of libraries and engagement with FOLIO.

“OLE welcomes Colorado to the Partnership. CU will bring new subject expertise and is hiring a developer to contribute to FOLIO development,” says Dean Krafft, Chief Technology Strategist at Cornell University Library, and Chair of the OLE Board. “The OLE Partners are working with colleagues at CU to quickly onboard and orient CU staff to ensure effective participation, and maximize their contributions to FOLIO."

OLE – The Open Library Environment was founded as a partnership of research and academic libraries in 2009. The Partnership includes Cornell University Library, Duke University Libraries, GBV/VZG library network, hbz library network, Lehigh University Library, North Carolina State University, Texas A&M University Libraries, SOAS University of London, and the University of Chicago Library. OLE has enjoyed many years of generous support from the Andrew W Mellon Foundation. OLE has developed and deployed an open source library management system at Chicago, Lehigh, and SOAS. In 2016, OLE joined with EBSCO to form the Open Library Foundation. For more information see the Open Library Foundation website
