Join the Buffs One Read and get your copy of American Like Me
A campus reading program called Buffs One Read launched this fall to build community around the shared experience of reading one book. The program is sponsored by University Libraries and is an expansion of previous One Read programs.
This year's selection is American Like Me: Reflections on Life Between Cultures, edited by actress and activist America Ferrera. The book was selected because it exemplifies this years’ theme of cultural identity and includes essays by more than thirty contributors describing their experiences as Americans as well as their experiences living between or within multiple cultures.
The University Libraries are also hosting a series of workshops to further community engagement with American Like Me: Reflections on Life Between Cultures from America Ferrera.
The workshop series, “Connecting Community and Culture,” will explore the narratives and themes featured in the 2021 Buffs One Read selection. Attendees will have an opportunity to explore aspects of identity and culture through contemplative reading techniques.
Members of the CU Boulder community are invited to attend any or all sessions, whether or not you have finished reading American Like Me. All materials, readings and supplies will be provided during the workshops.
