Buffs One Read

The 2026–27 Buffs One Read selection, “Lessons from My Teachers” by Sarah Ruhl, celebrates the importance of human connection through powerful examples of teaching and learning across every stage of life. Faculty can easily integrate the book into their courses with ready-to-use Canvas resources.

When CU Boulder students responded to this year’s Buffs One Read Storytelling Contest, they brought forward stories shaped by identity and personal reflection. Inspired by Callings: The Purpose and Passion of Work by Dave Isay, the contest invited students to explore voice and purpose through their own narratives.

Join us on March 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. for CUnique Stories, a live storytelling and conversation experience inspired by Human Library and StoryCorps, celebrating this year’s Buffs One Read selection, “Callings: The Purpose and Passion of Work.”

Share an essay, original artwork or multimedia reflection that responds to or celebrates “Callings: The Purpose and Passion of Work” for a chance to win $500. Submissions are due by Jan. 14.

Buffs One Read invites students to connect with the CU Boulder community through a shared reading experience centered on this year’s selection, “Callings: The Purpose and Passion of Work” by Dave Isay. First-year and transfer students receive a complimentary copy of the book about finding purpose and passion in life.
