Enter the Buffs One Read Storytelling Contest to win $500
The University Libraries invites undergraduate students to submit creative expressions inspired by Solito: A Memoir, by Javier Zamora. Students have the opportunity to win a $500 prize by sharing an essay, story, original artwork or multimedia reflection with the campus community during the Libraries Buffs One Read Storytelling Contest. Winners will also be invited to meet with Zamora at an author event in spring, 2025.
In Solito, Zamora tells the inspiring story of his migration from El Salvador to the United States at the age of nine. Solito provides an immediate and intimate account not only of a treacherous and near-impossible journey, but also of the miraculous kindness, love, courage, and resilience displayed by Zamora and his fellow travelers. CU undergraduates are invited to respond to Solito and to reflect on their own relationships to courage.
The submission deadline is Jan 24 at 12 p.m.
