200 libraries, campus pickup–Prospector is back

Good news! The University Libraries have rejoined Prospector, a regional borrowing system that connects nearly 200 academic, public and special libraries across Colorado and Wyoming. This means you can request materials held at these regional libraries including public libraries and they will be brought to the University Libraries for you to pick up.

What you need to know

  • Who can use Prospector? All eligible CU Boulder patrons, including students, staff and faculty.
  • What’s available? Access to 30 million books, journals, DVDs, CDs, videos and other materials from nearly 200 research and public libraries across Colorado and Wyoming.
  • Other ways to borrow: This service is in addition to Interlibrary Loan, which allows borrowing from libraries nationally and worldwide.

How to borrow from Prospector

  • Search in the Prospector online catalog.
  • When you find what you want, choose the "Request Item" option and follow the instructions on the screen.
  • If all copies of materials are checked out, a hold may be placed, although books may not be recalled.
  • Select a University Libraries pick-up location.
  • You will be notified via email when your item has arrived and is ready for check out. Items can take 10 business days to arrive in Norlin, and longer to arrive in other pickup locations or mailboxes.
  • When you're done, return your Prospector items to any University Libraries book return.
