Are you ready to vote? Get help researching your ballot
Not sure about something on your ballot? Don’t let that stop you from voting.
Friday, Oct. 23
10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Norlin Library, E303
University Libraries is hosting a drop-in Ballot Research Workshop on Friday, Oct. 23, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Norlin Library, E303, where qualified government information librarians can help you research and understand the questions you’re being asked to vote on using credible, nonpartisan sources. Students, faculty, staff and community members can attend the full workshop or drop in with a question they want help researching.
“Informed voting is important,” said Government Information Librarian Allan Van Hoye. “You don’t have to understand everything on your ballot the first time you read it. Librarians can help you find reliable resources and helpful strategies to research the questions that matter to you.”
The workshop will begin with a short introduction on approaches to researching ballot issues and evaluating election information. Afterward, librarians will be available for brief drop-in consultations to help attendees investigate specific questions or issues on their ballots. Attendees can come for the full workshop or stop by during the drop-in period.
No registration is required. Bring a ballot question or issue you want to research, and librarians will help you get started. Coffee will be provided.
The Libraries will also distribute election blue books on Oct. 15, 20, 22, 27 and 29 from 10 a..m. to 2 p.m. on Norlin’s west porch.
