Job Summary
The University Libraries encourage applications for a Services Specialist! This position provides phenomenal customer service and assistance at all in-person service points in Norlin Library, as well as virtual services. This position works closely with other Libraries units and ensures consistent support and collaborates to improve practices as needed.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Provide user centered customer service:
- Staffs service points within Norlin library.
- Staffs Libraries-wide virtual services including chat and email.
- General patron services - circulation, printing, scanning, research assistance, materials access, (using stacks, microform machines, etc.), and appropriate referrals.
- Patron account assistance - fines, replacements, discrepancies, etc.
- Able to assist with other library services and routine patron account needs (study rooms, reserves, etc.).
Collaborate with other Section and Team Members and other services collaborators:
- Supervise and evaluate current services, procedures, practices, and documentation for improvements
- Makes suggestions and recommendations when necessary
- Works closely with Libraries Security by providing support for security for library facilities
- Stays up to date with any changes
Special Projects :
- Learns and implements procedures for special projects and/or services as assigned.
- Works closely with other Services section members to ensure consistent practices and workflows.
- Works closely with Norlin Branch and Virtual Services Manager to provide feedback on services and recommends changes as needed.
Support all Libraries service points by substituting in for scheduled or unexpected absences with the ability to supervise service points and be responsible for student employees during daytime operational hours:
- Learn operations for each service point.
- Works closely with service point supervisors to ensure successful scheduling and collaboration.
- Organize and maintain in-person desks.
- Provide supervision of student personnel.
- Train student personnel in circulation procedures and policies as needed.
- Works closely student supervisors to provide feedback on students and training needs.
What You Should Know
- This role is working on-site.
- The standard shift is from 8 am - 4 pm Monday-Friday. This role maintains full-time employment during summer and during intersessions, but working hours may shift based on building hours.
What We Can Offer
- The salary for this position is $39,500 (set based on pay equity and likely within the 1st quartile).
- If you have prior state-classified experience in the same class series as this position, your pay may be set at a higher amount per the state Step Pay Program implemented on July 1, 2024.

What We Require
- Must be a Colorado resident to apply.
- One year of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
- Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

- Experience working in an academic library setting.
- Experience using integrated library software circulation modules (ILS).
