Job Description
We are looking for someone to prepare files containing tsunami marigrams (tide gauge records) for archive and dissemination and to update a NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) database with metadata to support tsunami marigram search and discovery. The file preparation work will require knowledge of linux (including, but not limited to, tar, gzip, and rsync). The database work will require knowledge of SQL. Note: The applicant must be a US citizen. A federal background check is required.
Required Qualifications or Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to write computer programs for various purposes, particularly using data scraping libraries (experience with Python is preferred).
- Organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks.
