Faculty: Here is your University Libraries start-of-semester checklist
The University Libraries are your partner in education and we have a number of resources to support you and your students. As you prepare for the semester, check off these 5 library tasks.
Submit your Course Reserves list
Course Reserves makes the materials on your syllabus available to students to check out from the library and reduces their financial burden. Course reserves can be used for a wide-range of materials including library-owned physical and electronic books, streaming film, other media and instructors’ personal hard copy of books and media.
Meet your subject liaisons
Subject librarians work with the departments to build collections to support your programs and they are experts on information sources and services in their subject areas. Contact your subject librarian to:
- Suggest a library purchase to add titles not already held by the University Libraries
- Book a consultation to learn the most useful library tools, techniques and databases for your research
Schedule a library research seminar
Liaisons provide library instruction and information literacy seminars during regularly scheduled virtual or in-person class times. Faculty may also request:
- Tailored research sessions designed to meet specific student and course needs
- Customized online learning resources
- To work collaboratively with teaching librarians to design learning opportunities that incorporate information literacy
- Course-integrated research services
Add Libraries signature programs to your syllabus
The Buffs One Read and Oct. 8's Culture Crawl are great opportunities to incorporate educational programming into your coursework.
Buffs One Read: This year’s book selection is Callings: The Purpose and Passion of Work, a StoryCorps book by Dave Isay. Faculty can integrate this inspiring title into their course curricula to enrich students' understanding of the profound impact of finding fulfillment in our lives. The Canvas community course is specifically designed to support the integration of the Buffs One Read title into any course on campus, and the research guide highlights related resources.
Culture Crawl: This day-long, multi-location event showcases CU Boulder arts and culture through performances, art-making, food tastings and more. Bring your class to a Culture Crawl event or create an assignment around one of the experiences.
