Pay rate: $20/hour

Job Description:

The library is seeking 1-3 students to assist in processing over 5,000 volumes of Chinese collections focused on premodern Chinese history and literature. The work is expected to start in early April and continue until the project is completed, ideally by June 30th. Work is on-site and must be conducted between the hours of 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Check the library catalog to identify existing holdings.
  • Verify and identify OCLC records of the materials.
  • Import records into the library's cataloging system.
  • Prepare books for cataloging.

Students will receive training with the library’s cataloging system and OCLC database.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Advanced Chinese Proficiency:
    • Ability to read and type both simplified and traditional Chinese characters.
    • Proficiency in Romanizing (han yu pin yin) Chinese characters.
