Art and Architecture Collection

The Art & Architecture Collection, one of the most comprehensive art library collections in the Mountain West region, serves as a regional resource for art, architecture, and design research. The collection, and our expert librarians, support the Department of Art and Art History, the Program in Environmental Design as well as the greater CU-Boulder community.

Using the collection

The collection is located in the north wing of the second floor of Norlin Library (see a call number map). It is comprised of approximately 100,000 international art and design books, exhibition catalogs, hundreds of magazine and journal subscriptions and an extensive reference collection of dictionaries, encyclopedias, and catalogues raisonné considered essential to the field.

Over 200 recent issues of local, national, and international art and design magazines can be browsed in the lounge located at the west entrance to the collection. The most recent five years of back issues are kept in the stacks interfiled with books by call number. Older issues are housed in off-site storage and can be requested through the Library Catalog.
