Film Collection

DVD, BluRay, and 4-K

The Libraries have a robust film collection with over 7,000 discs available for browsing on the 2nd floor of Norlin Library. This collection is global in scope, including foreign films from around the world. It covers the full timeline of movie making, from silent films to the most recent Oscar winners. The collection has strengths in documentary films, experimental and avant-garde filmmakers, award winning motion pictures, and global cinema.

The discs in the collection are available to checkout for up to one month, depending on your borrowing privileges. We also loan DVD and Blu-Ray external drives for your computer through our technology lending program. Norlin Library has a viewing station in the 2nd floor research area.

Analog Film Reels

In collaboration with the Department of Cinema Studies and Moving Image Arts, the Libraries maintains a world-class collection of analog film reels in 35mm, 16mm, and other formats in specialized film storage off-site at PASCAL. You can use the Library Catalog to view titles in the Cinema Studies Analog Archive. Due to the fragility of film reels, please contact the Department of Cinema Studies and Moving Image Arts to request a screening. Interlibrary loan requests are considered on a case by case basis. The International Film Series frequently screens titles in this collection. The CU Boulder Libraries Archives hold additional film reels, with a speciality in experimental film and video.
